Esther Stam

Esther Stam is the founder and creative director of Studio Modijefsky, an Amsterdam-based interior architecture studio known for its human-centered, story-driven approach.

Since founding the studio in 2009, Esther has remained fascinated by the challenge of designing spaces that connect deeply with both people and place.

Driven by curiosity and a love for craftsmanship, she explores how things are made — from the construction of a space to the smallest details within it. Her designs are rooted in local context, shaped by materiality, color, and light, and brought to life through close collaboration with artisans and makers.

Studio Modijefsky has delivered over 50 projects across hospitality, retail, cultural, and workplace sectors, including the Booking.com HQ, Museum Arnhem, Hotel Rumour, and Wolford’s flagship store. Every interior is custom-designed to reflect its users and environment, from initial concept to final execution.

Esther’s work speaks directly to the shifting landscape of workplace design, where experience, identity, and interaction take center stage. Her team creates immersive, functional spaces with a strong sense of character — transforming the way people connect with and navigate their work environments.
